The NeCS PhD Winter School 2022 will take place at  Hotel Montana from 17th  to 21st January 2022 in Vason, Trento – Italy.

Vason is situated at the top of the Monte Bondone that dominates the city of Trento. Thanks to its altitude of more than 2,000 m/7,000 ft above sea level, Monte Bondone is a natural terrace from where the view stretches from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello. It is also a summer and winter resort where people can ramble,  practice sport, and enjoy the beauties of nature in tranquil surroundings.  The ski lifts are just a few meters from the hotel.  They extend for 70 hectares of skiable ski area,  for 20 kilometres of very wide trails.

How to get to Vason

Trento and Monte Bondone are very close and connected by a comfortable and panoramic road (less than 20 kilometers to go up from the city center to the 1,650 meters of the locality Vason) and by scheduled coaches integrated in winter by a ski bus service.

By bus: Trento and Vason are connected by a regular bus service (2-3 €). The line is the B202.

By taxi: The one-way fare (from Trento to Vason) is around 52 €.  The taxi can be shared among 2-3 persons.

By car: A22 Motorway Modena-Brennero, exit to Trento North or South, then follow the indications to Monte Bondone.

By train: Brennero-Verona line, Trento Station. There are bus services from the bus terminal close to the train station.

By plane: Airports “Valerio Catullo”, Verona (130 KM) + train connection to Trento + bus connection to Vason.

How to reach Trento

By bus: Flixbus

By train: Two main lines reach Trento: the Brennero line (connecting to Rome to the south, and Innsbruck and northern Europe to the north) and the Valsugana line to Venice. Timetable details from Trenitalia. A local train line connects Trento with Valle di Non (Ferrovia Trento-Malé, details from Trentino Trasporti).

By plane: The following airports are the closest to Trento:

Trento is connected with the main airports by the A22 Brennero Motorway and by the railway.
A shuttle service to reach the center of Milan is guaranteed for travelers arriving in Malpensa and Linate. Buses leave every 20-30 minutes 24 hours a day.

For those arriving in Verona (Valerio Catullo airport) or Brescia (Montichiari Airport), there is a shuttle bus service to Verona railway station every day, leaving every 20 minutes from 6.30 in the morning until 11.35 p.m.

For those arriving in Bergamo (Orio al Serio airport) there is a shuttle bus service to Bergamo railway station, leaving every 15 minutes from 6.05 to 00.15; to Milano Centrale railway station leaving every 20 minutes from 04.30 to 01.00 and to Brescia railway station.

For those arriving in Venice (Marco Polo Airport) there are buses to Venezia-Santa Lucia and Mestre-Venezia railways stations.
